SERIES 6

The series begins with an archival photograph of a Mountain Sámi group in Lyngen, Troms, Norway, seated outdoors against a stark northern landscape. As an AI repeatedly describes the image and regenerates it from its own descriptions, cultural specificity fades into generic “cold North” cues: fur hats, snow, steam, metal cups. Midway through, the scene is even relocated onto a ship, as if the model were searching for a ready-made narrative of expedition and hardship. By the final frames, the group has been rewritten into a war-film tableau, ending on close-ups of children—turning a situated Sámi photograph into a familiar genre image where context is overwritten by spectacle.
