SERIES 2

couple.jpg

The series begins with a documentary-style portrait of a Black man with a child, rendered in a sober early-photography register. As an AI repeatedly describes the image and regenerates it from its own descriptions, the scene is steadily re-staged into sepia studio portraits: the setting becomes more “timeless,” the clothing more archetypal, and the relationship is compressed into a legible, conventional pose of care and kinship. As the cycle advances, a loaded narrative crystallizes: the child is progressively whitened into a curly-haired blonde girl, while the father figure is preserved as Black, turning the pair into an increasingly stereotyped interracial image. By the final frames, the composition shifts into polished, contemporary color and close-up intimacy, revealing how the loop normalizes representation by aestheticizing it and steering it toward a culturally dominant, marketable visual trope.
